When I was asked to create an Indigenous Monopoly game, I conducted research, strategizing to replace money with seeds, and real estate with harvest. Using the medicine wheel as the backbone of the game, I reinforced the directions with titled question decks, teaching 7 local Indigenous languages and the 7 sacred teachings. The central female character replaces the Monopoly man in support of matriarchy. After testing and revising game play, I wrote instructions, sourced a manufacturer, and had a prototype delivered to the client.
